18th Go to Gullivers

Group enjoy theme park thrillsThe 18th Cambridge Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have all enjoyed a day of thrills and spills at Gullivers Theme Park near Milton Keynes.

The outing is the first event of the group's Autumn of Ambition, which aims to build bridges between the sections in the group, and was partically funded by a grant from Cambridge City Council.

Despite the wet weather which prevented some of the rides from opening at first, the group whizzed round a handful of attractions such as the magic carpet, hedge maze and dodgems before lunchtime.

The afternoon was much brighter and warmer, which allowed the scouts to take advantage of the remaining attractions as they opened, including the rollercoaster, drop-tower, log flume, shoot-em-up and pirate ship before heading to the gift shops to buy souvenirs.

Gullivers were also offering special activities for scouts and guides as part of their Jamboree Weekend, including a treasure hunt, puppet making and special interactive shows which all counted towards badge work.

Beaver Leader Emma Roberts commented;

"It's a shame about the weather...the one day it hasn't been nice all week just happens to be the day we go on a trip! But the kids have thoroughly enjoyed themselves...it's been fun and freezing!"
