Scouts set to move to Thursdays |
||||||||||||||||||
The Troop, who are currently meeting alongside Cubs on Monday evenings, have been granted a new time slot after Beavers on Thursdays, which will allow them to use the entire Church Hall facility. While it has been beneficial for the Troop to meet alongside the Cubs during their revival, the Troop are becoming increasingly cramped in the small meeting room and cloakroom as the numbers begin to rise. With membership anticipated to rise to 16 after the summer, and with the lively nature of the Scout section becoming ever more apparent, the issue has caused the Scout Leaders to take action. Scout Leader Simon Gates remarked, "It's been brilliant working alongside the Cubs for the last eight months, getting the troop going, sharing ideas and working as an integrated unit. However, I am aware that the boys, especially as they grow and mature, will need more space to carry out their activities so we're going to need a bigger area, like the main hall, on a weekly basis." Following discussions with the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Troop have been allocated a slot between 7:30-9:00pm on Thursday evenings. Temporarily, this will lead to a short overlap between the Beavers and the Scouts, with both sets of leaders agreeing to fill the time with a joint game. The Troop are due to take up their new time slot on Thursday 11th June 2009. |
