Cubs go Back to Basics at "Outdoors" District Camp

Cubs observe nature as part of the eventHundreds of Cub Scouts from across Cambridge have decended on Abington Campsite for the annual District Cub Camp.

The event, traditionally held on the first weekend in June, carried an "Outdoors" theme, encouraging the young scouts to go back to basics.

As with previous District Cub Camps, the Cubs had many opportunities to complete a wide selection of badges, from DIY and Naturalist to Map Reading and Local Knowledge. This year's event also included a number of problem-solving mini-bases to be completed in small groups, as well as the campfire on Saturday evening.

Though the Cubs had fortunate weather on Friday and Saturday, torrential rain effectively washed the camp out on Sunday, with many leaders opting to end the camp early. On the whole though, a very enjoyable weekend was had by all.
