Cubs show Support to Servicemen

Cubs Raise money for SSAFAThe 18th Cubs have shown their support to servicemen by presenting SSAFA with a cheque for £367.

In June, the Cubs were asked to find sponsorship for running as many laps of the Arbury Town Green as they could within 45 minutes.

But it wasn't all about the running. Along the way, the Cubs faced a number of challenges, ranging from simple tasks such as tying knots and answering questions to completing laps in the style of something else, such as a headless chicken or wiggly worm!

The 24 boys managed to complete a combined 400 circuits, raising the staggering sum of money for SSAFA in the process.

Young Leader, Mark Brown, was pleased with the Cubs efforts;

"We're extremely pleased by how well the boys applied themselves in raising this money. Many of them know friends of family who have served in the armed forces and this money will go along way to support those families currently serving in times of Remembrance."

On receiving the cheque, SSAFA representative John Pawley commented;

"The Cubs have done a fantastic job raising this money for charity, but it's also great to see that they had a lot of fun doing it."

The presentation of the cheque by the 18th Cubs to SSAFA coincides with the 90th Anniversary of Armistice.
