Go-Ahead Given for Tent Acquisition

18th Gain Tent FundingThe 18th Cambridge Executive Committee have voted unanimously in favour of releasing group funds to purchase some new light-weight tents for the group.

The original proposal, tabled in October's Executive Meeting by Charles Brown, followed the 18th's Group Camp where a number of tents looked "out of sorts" and were "cumbersome to put up".

The October meeting insisted that the group fundraise half of the funds required to purchase the tents, and this condition was met when Emma and Simon won their Cambridge Evening News Community Award in December.

Charles proposed that the group should acquire 4 new 6-man tents, which could be used by the Cubs and the Scouts for camping, plus two day tents that could be used by all sections. The estimated cost of the entire purchase is around £850.

Following closer inspection of the tents in question, the Committee gave their approval. The group will now begin price checking against the original valuation to see if they can acquire them cheaper elsewhere, before making the final purchase.

The Executive also voted in favour of purchasing new First Aid resources, costing £40, and looked at a proposal for an international trip to France in 2010.
