Yo-Yo Launching 'Project Yo-Yo' |
||||||||||||||||||
Assistant Beaver Leader, Simon Gates, is launching an initiative to get more young people involved in promoting scouting. 'Project Yo-Yo' will give scouts of all ages a chance to share their views on scouting activities offered to them, and how they would like to see scouting develop in the future. With the aid of computers, scouts will be asked to write about their experiences and either print it out or submit it directly via the Project Yo-Yo webpage. The contents will then be screened and added as blogs on the Cambridgeshire Scouting website, and also be made available here at 18th Central. But that's not all! Simon is also hoping to launch 'RadiYoYo,' a monthly audio roundup with interviews from around the county soon after the tour has started. Commenting on the initiatives, Simon said; "It's exciting, I tend to do a lot of writing about scouting...but I am only one person and ultimately can't be everywhere to cover everything. Project Yo-Yo will allow Scouts and parents in effect to become my eyes and ears all over the county for interesting news. RadiYoYo on the other hand is intended as a bit of fun whilst on the tour, but that doesn't mean it won't be serious in trying to achieve the same goals as OnTour and Project Yo-Yo." Project Yo-Yo and RadiYoYo will both run alongside Simon's personal challenge, OnTour, which will start in January 2008 and last for an entire year.
