Group Blitz Arbury's Litter

Group Blitz Arbury's litter for Big Tidy UpThe 18th Cambridge Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have joined forces for an evening with the sole purpose to rid Arbury of some of its rubbish.

"Arbury Blitz" was organised by the group as part of the UK's Big Tidy Up Campaign. The 6-11 year old scouts donning gloves, shovels and bin bags in an attempt to smarten up areas of the local community.

The Beavers and Cubs spent the evening litter picking around Arbury Court, whilst the Scouts removed weeds and litter from the Good Shepherd Church grounds.

Cub Leader, Charles Brown, highlighted the benefits of the evening;

"It's given the kids an opportunity to explore green issues whilst also giving something back to the community. The scouts will go away knowing about the importance of looking after their environment and doing so needn't be a chore, it can be fun."

In total, the 18th collected 11 bags of rubbish, which was pretty good for an hour's work.
