Active Kids donations reach 1,500

Sainsbury's Active KidsIt's half way through the Sainsbury's Active Kids scheme and the 18th are please to announce they have received 1,500 vouchers so far. This is the fourth year of the scheme, which allows schools, scout groups and guide groups to get free equipment in exchange for vouchers.

Simon Gates, Assistant Beaver Leader, commented;

"This is a fantastic result so a really big thank you to everyone who has donated so far. The group really appreciates the support and it will go a long way in getting new equipment for the Beavers and Cubs."

"However, the scheme isn't over yet and I would kindly ask all parents, supporters, work colleagues, friends and family to donate as many vouchers as they can over the next month...it will make a real difference."

Commenting further, Beaver Leader Emma Roberts added;

"Any equipment we can get through the scheme means money that would have been spent on new equipment can be used for special day trips and other scouting experiences for the kids. This will give even more Beavers and Cubs an opportunity to participate in special events without cost being the primary issue."

Last year, the 18th started late and only managed to raise 360 vouchers, which were used to buy 16 new hoops, 8 velcro bean-bags and some foam balls. This year, the aim is to get a new 6m parachute, new cones and sport equipment, a velcro target board, new tunnels and camping equipment.

The 18th's target in 2008 is 3,000 vouchers...so please keep donating!
