Sun, Sea and Sand at Beaver Seaside Sleepover |
||||||||||||||||||
Following an early start, the Beavers boarded a minibus heading the Hunstanton where they would spend the day building sand castles, bathing in the sea and playing games on the beach. For an added bit of fun, the Beavers were given a change to bury one of the leaders in the sand, with the majority voting and succeeding to bury Yo-Yo (Simon). As the evening drew in, the Beavers were treated to a traditional fish'n'chips dinner before heading back to Cambridge for seaside-themed activities, such as making windmills and chocolate coated apples. The morning started brightly with breakfast, followed by an early trip to the park to relief some of their energy. On returning however, the Beavers had a number of seaside-themed games to play, with prizes to be won. Aim and accuracy were all important for the coconut shy, made with coconuts standing up on baked bean tins. They also had to knock down the tower of tin cans, hook the duck, spin the wheel, and obtain the highest score in magnetic darts, all with wonderful carousel music playing loudly in the background.
There was just enough time for a short snack and discussion before home time, with many of the Beavers and leaders revealing their favourite moments from the sleepover. Jeanette Hogg, Beaver Leader of the 26th Cambridge Colony, said she thought the event went well, "The beavers have been brilliantly behaved throughout and they've loved every minute of it. Truth be told, it's been a simple sleepover to run but it's been really enjoyable." Planning is already underway for the next sleepover, which is due to take place over the Halloween weekend in October. See pictures from the Seaside Sleepover by visiting The Gallery
