18th Release Family Camp Details

Group reveals Family Camp detailsThe 18th Cambridge Scout Group have released details of their up'n'coming Family Camp.

The camp, which is intended to bring all members of the group and their families together, will take place at the Phasels Wood Scout Activity Centre in Hertfordshire on 4th-6th September 2009.

The camp will be open to all members of the family, and following a change of age limits earlier in the year, will allow all members over the age of 7.5 years to camp without their parents. Those below 7.5 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The cost per person is £17.50, which includes central catering and activities. There is also provision to transport people who have no means of getting to the campsite in the minibus, though there may be an extra cost involved.

Activities have been split into two, based on age limits. Beavers and younger Cubs are likely to benefit from Pedal Karts, Climbing and the Adventure course, whilst older members will benefit from Archery, Climbing and Potholing. Both groups will also take advantage of the Cresta Run on Sunday morning.

Details of the programme are yet to be finalised, but the aim will be to "get everyone involved". The event will begin at 7pm on Friday 4th September and run until 12pm on Sunday 6th September.

Assistant Cub Leader, Christopher Gawthrop-Bleet, will be leading the camp in order to earn his Nights Away Permit, with Charles Brown (Akela) and Simon Gates (Yo-Yo) supporting him.

Parents have until Friday 14th August to sign up to the camp, either by email, telephone or post.
