Beavers Soak Leaders at District Hike

100 Beavers from across Cambridge District have taken an opportunity to soak their leaders as part of the District Beaver Hike.

The hike, which took place on a warm sunny evening at the end of June, saw the Beavers and their leaders hugging the riverbanks on a 1.5 mile walk through Grantchester Meadows to Lammas Land in Newnham.

But is wasn't in the river where the Beavers hatched their plan. It was the public pool in Lammas Land, which the Beavers had been given permission to use at the end of the hike, where they sprung into action.

Taking the opportunity to cool off following the hike, many of the Beavers wanted to show the leaders how it was done, and instantly threw handfuls of water at them. But in response, many of the leaders fought back in what ended up being a cheerful waterfight.

District Commissioner, Simon Gates, who helped instigate the revolt said;

"It was very much a free-for-all, and everyone just loved it! It was the perfect way to end a pleasant, warm evening. The leaders have done a fantastic job in organising the event, and I am thankful for their extra vigilance in light of recent events in Suffolk."

The District Beaver Hike is now in it's sixth year.
